Partnership activities range from elementary school tutoring and reading buddies to middle school mentoring to high school work-based learning and scholarships for college. Partnerships vary from school-to-school as Partners collaborate to address the specific needs of the schools and students they serve.

The longest standing partnership is the one between our two high schools and First National Bank of Griffin. For over 26 years, First National Bank has hosted a banquet recognizing over 400 honor students and their parents.

The partnership that has provided the greatest amount of resources to schools is the Norcom Kids in Need Free Store for Teachers. For the past three years, Norcom, a local school and office supply manufacturer, has donated over $750,000 in classroom supplies for students distributed through a one-day shopping experience for their Griffin-Spalding County School System teachers.

The PIE Board of Directors and school–level leaders have institutionalized Partners in Education in each school by building the climate and culture of Partners working with students and schools. Additionally, through its committees, the PIE Board of Directors has focused on building a more positive perception of the school system, securing funds to provide mini-grants for classroom projects for students, and building leadership capacity of volunteers.
